Supervision for Institutions

Every system administrator should, in his everyday work, have incident monitoring, resource utilisation monitoring or system and service supervision tools, with non-availability alerts or warnings that the status of a service/server is worsening (+95% disc occupancy etc.). CARNET therefore offers its member institutions a new service focusing on supervision.

The CARNET supervisory service is provided via the Nagios system, and through the supervision of servers it enables the automatic supervision of various incidents (most commonly failures) on the computer-network infrastructure of an institution and the informing of the institutions' system-engineers. The system will, after the failure of one or more service or even the entire server, deliver an e-mail or mobile phone message on this.
